We offer patchwork and quilting workshops and retreats in the North West of Ireland, one of the most scenic and beautiful areas in Ireland. We are based in County Donegal, and are surrounded by forest parks, stunning cliffs and beautiful beaches ……….. an added bonus is a lot of quilting activities nearby.

About us
Irish Country Quilting started in 2001 by Pauline Openneer who together with a small group of enthusiastic quilt teachers offering workshops and retreats to visitors to the Sheephaven area during the summer months. The workshops were held in Pauline’s Country Quilts Shop in Dunfanaghy and very soon it became apparent that it was not only the visitors who were interested in learning how to quilt – there is now a thriving local Patchworkers and Quilters Guild in the Sheephaven area, and the interest is growing all the time.

For a variety of reasons the shop had to close in September 2009, but Pauline has decided to continue the activities on her own as an all-year round facility. The workshops and retreats will now take place at different venues such as the local hotels, B & Bs, community centres and the newly opened quilt shop in Falcarragh – Green Acres Quilts.

We are offering workshops in traditional patchwork and quilt making – most of them “fast” and fun” projects. Not only will we cater for more experience quilters, but we will also teach absolute beginners who are looking for a new leisure hobby. Classes will consist of four or more, and places can be booked via email or post.

We also offer retreats for groups of six and more from other locations in Ireland and abroad who will be welcome to visit this beautiful area to sew, socialise and visit the local beauty spots. We work in conjunction with Arnolds Hotel in Dunfanaghy. Alternatively Pauline will be happy to visit your quilting group meeting or guild outside Donegal County!
